Inventing a New Way to Cook
Designers at Davison work in a unique position over other companies. One of the benefits we offer this team is the ability to create their own project for their own means and split the returns with the company once a year. Recently, one of our very own staff did just that, creating the Pivot Pot, now called Swing Magic. The young designer, Frank, created this product as a class project while in college He told me he was working his way through college and thought it would be great to marry a strainer with a pot.
Remember the old days when you poured the hot water and pasta from a pan into a strainer in the sink? With the Pivot Pot, once the user finishes boiling pasta, they can just tilt the pot with a movement of their wrists. The strainer, which is locked inside of the pan, will pivot out (being pulled by gravity) and be suspended below the pot, while the water drains out. No more fumbling with a hot pan while trying to balance the strainer in the sink to prevent it from falling over under the weight of the pasta. Because the strainer in the Pivot Pot is attached, when the pan is tilted and the strainer pivots, the water drains out of the pot and the pasta remains in the strainer where it belongs. We have also discovered that there are a variety of other foods that can be cooked in the Pivot Pot, and draining them is easy because of the unique feature of the Pivot Pot.
Frank took his original input model to Davison, where he was able to follow it through with the proper resources to bring it to life. That’s what’s great about Inventionland. We build this environment where we can maintain that “believer” mentality and surround these people with resources. We know that people like Frank are just as passionate about working on every client’s project as they are on their own. We are thrilled to see our staff of Inventionmen and women doing what they love and it shows.
The Pivot Pot was licensed to ALLSTAR Marketing and should be in commercials on TV this week. We’re excited that ALLSTAR has seen the merits in this product and has begun their TV campaign to bring it to market for all those people who want the latest in cooking equipment..
